Director's Opinions

If you are a judge or a judicial candidate who needs specific guidance with respect to the Code, you may request a Director's Opinion. These opinions are an interpretation of the Code as applied to a given set of facts. They are not binding on the Commission, but reliance on them is considered in mitigation of discipline. Director's Opinions do not establish a general standard of conduct. Each opinion is sent to the  Hearing Panel to determine whether to draft a Formal Advisory Opinion.
